The Ukrainian company Poverkhnost is reported to have begun a DVB-S2/MPEG-4 trial employing Eutelsat W4 at 36 degrees East. It is using Irdeto 2 conditional access to deliver the channels Studio 1+1, ICT, Novy Kanal, STB, TRK Ukraina, M1 and M2 Estrada. Poverkhnost is eventually expected to launch a DTH platform offering 50 SD and 2-3 HD channels. Satellite platforms are also planned by Viasat Ukraine, in which Swedens MTG has a 50% stake, and DataGroup.
