US-based media company Fox International Channels launched its pay-TV service Fox Channel in Germany on May 19.
The entertainment channel mostly screens popular American TV series, including from June 15 the fourth series of Lost in its German TV premiere. All future series of Lost will also be shown six months before their appearance on free-to-air television. The channel will also screen the German premieres of The West Wing, Vanished, Greek and Curb Your Enthusiasm, amongst others. Further series on its programme schedule are Reaper, Entourage, The Wire, The Practice and Las Vegas as well as the BBC productions Spooks and Hotel Babylon.
A special feature will be weekend series marathons during which viewers can catch up on missed episodes of their favourite series. All programmes are screened without commercial breaks and viewers can choose whether to watch them dubbed into German or in the English-language original version.
Fox is currently available on the cable networks of Unitymedia in regional states North-Rhine Westphalia and Hessen as well as on the satellite platform arenaSAT via Astra (19.2 East). Negotiations about carriage are taking place with further platform operators via cable, satellite and ADSL.
Fox is owned by News Corporation.
