Based on state-of-the-art silicon technology, the Barca card allows scalable security profiles matching the to end-user device capabilities, ranging from legacy set top boxes to high-end terminals equipped with advanced chipsets.
The Barca card is fully compatible with deployed set-top boxes, and represents an option for existing customers who want to start upgrading to the highest security level now available, alongside existing uncompromised previous smart card generations, including the Buda Card.
Presented during our annual Customer Forum in May to Barcelona, the Barca Card has generated an excellent feedback from our clients, and is already planned to be delivered to some of our customers in the forthcoming months. Our policy to continuously introduce new smart cards is bearing fruits. The Viaccess Buda Card was introduced in 2005 at IBC, 12 months later we launch the BARCA card and confirm our research and development capacity and our commitment against piracy comments Mathias Hautefort, Viaccess CEO. We strongly believe that by introducing new smart cards on a regular basis, we will make piracy unsustainable and contribute to enforce our payTV customers business models he adds.
